How is SleepLullabies.com music different from other lullaby albums I can buy?
What sets our music apart from other lullabies on the market is that we blend 3 different sound elements -- each recognized for their calming effects on babies and children -- into each musical sound track:
The synergy of these 3 sound elements (not just one or two) provides an audio experience that creates the right mood for relaxation and sleep. Adding SleepLullabies music to the bedtime ritual enhances the positive sense of well-being and comfort for both parent and child.
And, if you're concerned about the nature of some nursery rhyme lyrics, you and your baby can still enjoy all the benefits of our music with our instrumental arrangements.
What do you mean by "albums are doctor-approved"?
We put our music through stringent testing before any album is completed
to help ensure your complete satisfaction.
As part of our testing process, medical doctors as well as nurse
practitioners and RNs are given prototypes for evaluation. They then test
the actual CDs on themselves and their own families, as well as give test
copies to patients. We incorporate the results and recommendations into
the final version.
After evaluation and testing, these medical professionals approve each CD
as an effective noninvasive relaxation and sleep aid. This kind of
approval is reinforced by the fact that so many hospitals use these
albums, too.
How can my baby get the maximum benefit from using SleepLullabies.com music?
To receive the maximum benefit from our lullabies, just follow these simple instructions:
What exactly is white noise, and why is it so beneficial for babies? White noise is a subtle, steady sound found in nature. Examples of white noise include the sound of ocean waves gently caressing the shore, a
rain shower, a waterfall, or the wind blowing through the trees. For many babies, especially crying babies with colic, the monotony of an external noise is especially soothing. (How often have you gotten drowsy with the gentle sound of a motor running?) That's why many pediatricians recommend white noise as part of a baby's sleep regimen. Despite its name, white noise is not a noise. Rather, it is a sound frequency or
signal. Research has shown that certain sonic frequencies in white noise have a
calming effect on humans of all ages. That's why the gentle continuous sound of white
noise in our baby lullaby music promotes a calm mood to help your baby relax and/or fall
asleep, as well as soothe colic. In addition, general environmental noise, like noisy traffic outside the baby's nursery
or loud noises created by the baby's siblings, may upset your baby or keep your newborn
infant awake. Research has also shown that a steady stream of the same peaceful sound,
such as white noise, can filter and mask distracting noises. If your baby or toddler is startled by, or is afraid of, loud noises such as thunder, the soothing blended sounds of lullaby music and white noise can help mask those sounds while at the same time calm your child down. The same calming benefits can be used to ease "separation anxiety," where your child cries or throws a tantrum when you try to leave the bedroom or nursery. By embedding white noise into each sound track, your baby will enjoy the total sound
experience to help her relax and fall asleep. Parents will also enjoy the soothing mood
created by our unique musical arrangements. That's why our SleepLullabies.com music provides a beneficial difference vs. other baby
music. Can you guarantee that your lullabies and nursery rhymes music will relax my baby, even help her fall asleep?
Well, our lawyers tell us that we cannot come right out and make this claim.
However, what we can tell you is that we have thousands of satisfied parents, grandparents and other child caregivers who swear by the results. In fact, many of our customers (especially whose children are now grown) ask the question, "Where were you when my kids were little and fussy?"
We're also proud that many hospitals play our baby lullabies in their pediatric and neonatal units to calm and soothe newborn infants. We think that says alot about how truly effective our lullabies are!
Is there any benefit to playing lullabies during pregnancy?
A resounding yes, backed by research.
Accordinging to Giselle Whitwell in her article, The Importance of Prenatal Sound and Music: "The elements of music, namely tonal pitch, timbre, intensity and rhythm, are also elements used in speaking a language. For this reason, music prepares the ear, body and brain to listen to, integrate and produce language sounds. Music can thus be considered a pre-linguistic language which is nourishing and stimulating to the whole human being, affecting body, emotions, intellect, and developing an internal sense of beauty, sustaining and awakening the qualities in us that are wordless and otherwise inexpressible."
In essence, playing lullabies during pregnancy can help provide your baby with her first language lessons, as well as promote a sense of calm in both mother and fetus.
Why can't I just use the noise in vacuum cleaners, motors and other machines? Isn't that white noise?
No! Vacuum cleaner sounds and blow dryers are noises; white noise is a sound frequency.
With electric motor noises, you have no control over loudness, tone, sound frequency or pitch, which can cause ear fatigue and irritability from prolonged exposure. (Can you imagine your baby listening to a vacuum cleaner or blow dryer all night?)
Pure white noise combines all sound frequencies together, with equal values of low frequencies all the way up to very high frequencies.
This meticulous melding of frequencies creates a very soothing, restful bed of sound underlying our lullabies.
What kind of scientific research has been done on the benefits of therapeutic audio elements such as white noise?
Years of research and hundreds of private and government studies have established the usefulness of therapeutic audio for both children and adults.
A government study entitled "Acute Pain Management in Infants, Children, and Adolescents" conducted in 1992 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommended the use of therapeutic audio products for patients that exhibit stress and pain.
The studies found using therapeutic audio could be helpful in reducing pain and stress while improving healing and reducing the need for traditional pain medication interventions.
If audio therapy can help reduce pain or stress, imagine how SleepLullabies.com CDs and cassettes can help promote relaxation and sleep for your infant or child! Order your albums today!
